Woman plays and played very important play in human life, however
I must confess, that man also. With woman can we use so many attributions that
no excellent writer, poet or singer could ever tire out these attributions. For
example woman – wife, woman – mother, woman – love, woman – beauty, and woman
– care…The most important place takes in our life woman – mother. Mother is someone
who should always stay beside you, even if it ś good or bad. But not every woman
wants to be a mother and this has been always a big problem in our society. If
the God does really exist, why did he take the gift of having a baby women, who
wants to have a children and gave woman, who don’t really want? It's a very difficult
religious question. Woman isn’t God and therefore she hasn’t right to kill her
baby. But where is God, when the woman becomes pregnant in very unpleasant way
like incest or rape? I don’t think, that it's the question of religion, because
not everybody believes in God. Unfortunately this problem isn’t just question
of religion, but also of humanism.
In the ancient world, abortion wasn’t common, but infanticide was widely practiced.
Because abortion was so often fatal to the mother. The only methods known then
were two: One method was to give certain poisons to the mother and hope the unborn
child would die; often the mother also died. The other method was to physically
abuse the mother's abdomen to induce abortion, which sometimes fatally injured
her. And nowadays? Nowadays is abortion much common than before. Human life is
just relative value.
The first question in the entire abortion controversy is: "Is this human
life?" or "When is this human life?" Only then can we discuss the
conflict between the rights of the woman and the rights of the "baby."
In medicine and natural science is it easy to say, that the small piece of tissue
- a glob of protoplasm - is a human life. Human life means that something is alive
and biological belongs to the species Homo sapiens. Alive means that this being
is growing and developing. It means not being death. Much difficult question is
if this being is a person. We can’t say if it’s a person in philosophy or religion.
Abortion is today in most of the states and countries illegal. Throughout the
U.S.'s 200-year history, the developing baby in the womb had been protected by
law. Then, in 1967, the first state legalized abortion for a few "hard cases."
In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that as long as the baby lived in the
womb, it’s the property of its mother. Now, almost every third baby conceived
in America is killed by abortion, a total of over 1-1/2 million babies a year.
Today, every sixth baby conceived in Canada is killed in abortion and Canada's
indigenous birth rate is also below replacement level. The laws vary. Germany
still technically protects the unborn child, but abortionists go unpunished. In
Holland, abortion is legal. Italy legalized abortion in a referendum. Spain's
Socialist party has legalized abortion. Portugal legalized abortion for a few
"hard cases." France's Parliament has legalized early abortion, as has
Scandinavia's. There is no abortion in Moslem nations. In Israel the Moslem birth
rate is far above that of the Jews, who permit abortion. China, particularly,
is an open scandal, doing compulsory abortions into the third trimester after
the first child. So, there as we can see, there are only a few countries, where
abortion is legal.
I’d like to point out at the abortion techniques, which are in my opinion very
unpleasant. Some techniques in the first trimester aren’t so danger, than the
others, which are later, but the infection can easily develop if any fetal or
placental tissue is left behind in the uterus. The most common abortion technique
is suction aspiration (vacuum curettage). The powerful suction tube is inserted
into the womb and dismembers the body of developing baby and tears placenta from
the wall. Everything gets into a collection bottle. In the second trimester is
very often used evacuation, salt poisoning, and partial – birth abortion….
To solve problem of abortion is quite difficult. The question of life has been
always difficult to solve, because no one can tell, if it’s good to kill the person
or not. The small tissue of placenta, which is developing in mother’s womb, is
life, that’s no question, and has right for life. But what about woman’s rights
over her body? "After all, it is my body. Do I not have a right to control
it? A right to determine what happens in it? Do I not have a right to reproductive
freedom, to decide whether or not, or when, to become a mother? If there is a
child in my body, and I do not want him there, do I not have the right to remove
him? Do I have a duty to sustain him? Can I not expel him from my womb? Is this
not what an abortion amounts to? If he is a threat to my life or well-being, can
I not defend myself by expelling him? In short, I have a right over my body, and
if I have an unwanted pregnancy, I can terminate it by having an abortion."
Yes, I agree, woman has rights but also duties. If it’s really unwanted pregnancy,
we should think about life of the child, who will maybe be put into some of the
numerous orphanages. Therefore it’s better to have an abortion in the first trimester,
what’s not so dangerous. I still think that legal abortions must be at least marginally
safer than illegal abortions. Certainly women who suffer physical complications
can get emergency medical treatment faster now without being afraid of becoming
involved in a criminal investigation. I know, that’s only the health benefit of
legalized abortion, but shouldn’t have a woman just a small right over her body,
just one exceptions in „ hard cases“. I suppose that everybody must consider this
small solution in the big problem as a friendly for both sides.
